MITE Wins Two ‘Best Project of the Year’ Awards at State-Level Exhibition
MANGALURU: The Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) has bagged two prestigious ‘Best Project of the Year‘ awards at the ‘State Level Poster Presentation and Project Exhibition’ of the 47th Series Student Project Programme, organised by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST).
The event was held at Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, recently.Out of the 24 projects of MITE that received sponsorship from KSCST, nine advanced to the final round after rigorous mid-term evaluations. Impressively, two of these projects were honoured with the ‘Best Project of the Year’ award.
Among the winning teams, the Computer Science and Engineering project group, comprising Sourabh P, Shreyas S Tantri, Shreyas Shetty B, and guided by Vinayak Nayak N, earned accolades for their work titled ‘A Deep Learning Approach to Detect Rheumatoid Arthritis Using X-Ray Images and Biomarkers,’ under the guidance of Pradeep B S.
The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department also stood out with their project titled ‘Sewage Pipe Crawling Robot’. The team, consisting of Ranjan, Nisar Ahmed, Abhijith M Naik, and Adithya Bhat, was guided by Sri Krishna Shastri C.
The institution has been winning this prestigious award for five consecutive years. Rajesh Chowta, Chairman of the Rajalaxmi Education Trust-Mangaluru, stated that the institution is making significant strides in building advanced infrastructure, which aligns with its mission of providing a world-class academic environment for students and aspiring research scholars.
Over the past five years, MITE has consistently secured funding for over 20 projects every year and has accumulated a total of 11 ‘Best Project’ awards. Prashanth C M, principal of MITE, expressed his pride in the students’ outstanding achievements, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in engineering education.
